Did you know that your artificial Christmas tree can be a hideout for pests all year round, even when it’s stored away safe in the loft? We’ve put together our top tips for keeping away the pests this festive season:

  • Leftovers: Make sure to keep all your leftovers covered up in Tupperware in the fridge, and when you dispose of them make sure to put them into cling film and then a bag.
  • Wrapping paper: Don’t leave your bin bag of wrapping paper from present opening lying on the floor. The paper provides great nesting material for rodents and could lead to a big old mess!
  • Edible decorations: Either eat them quickly, or throw them away! We know, the gingerbread house you made is beautiful, but it will also make a tasty snack for ants, flies and even mice and rats.
  • Seal it up: Festive tablecloths and stockings can make a great feast for clothing moths and cockroaches. Make sure that you seal this up in plastic or hoover bags to keep out humidity.
  • Don’t use boxes: Pests can easily slip through the boxes that you use to store your artificial tree and baubles. Opt for plastic storage bins and a tree bag that tightly zips for decorations that are pest free.
